The Sunshine Coast is an area along the southwest coast of British Columbia that contains parts of the mainland and many off-shore islands. It's an isolated area, not directly accessible by automobile. One gets there by air or ferry. The ferries transport automobiles and trucks as well as foot passengers, so one can drive in the area if they bring their vehicle.
The area has been logged for centuries, contains several mines, and has supplied sand and gravel for construction projects in Vancouver and elsewhere. It's not untouched wilderness, but conservation practices have restored and preserved much of its natural beauty.
